2017 Umpire Training
District 6 once again will be offering Umpire training classes for all those interested. The classes will run for 6 weeks on Sunday evenings beginning February 26th at Zion Lutheran School in South Milwaukee. There will be beginner and advanced classes this year.
A beginner umpire is defined as a first year umpire or a second year umpire with less than 10 games umpired during their first year. Minimum age (Little League age 12)
An experienced umpire is defined as a 2nd year umpire with more than 10 games umpired their 1st year or someone with 3 or more years of umpire experience regardless of games umpired. An experienced umpire does have the right to choose to attend the beginner classes but we ask that they stick to the track they have chosen once they have made their choice. To keep the size of the beginner class down we do ask that the experienced umpires consider choosing the advanced course, but they are free to choose whichever track they feel would help them the most.
Attendance requirements will permit an umpire to miss up to one class, missing more than that will disqualify that individual for the 2017 season. Should an extraordinary case arise the student should reach out to Steve Champagne to work out an alternative option.
