A Message from the SMLL President

Posted by South Milwaukee Little League on May 16 2014 at 04:20AM PDT

Hi everyone,

I would like to thank all the families for the great start to the 2014 South Milwaukee Little League season. Our entire board of directors is proud to continue our community involvement with hard work and dedication to SMLL. As we work with many area youth sports organizations, we realize how special SMLL is with it’s proud heritage. Thanks to all the families who have been involved in SMLL over the years building and extending this rich tradition.. Our focus of doing what is best for each player and the league as a whole serves as a guide to keep us on track. The start to this 2014 season has shown to be no exception to our proud history.

David Douglas Wisconsin District 6 Little League Administrator

Dave has been a part of SMLL since 1997. As a parent, coach, umpire, member of the BOD and president. While his role with D6 takes him off our BOD, he is continuing his tireless efforts to SMLL. Prior to opening day he was out in the rain on a ladder, hanging netting on Diamond 1. After serving as the Grand Marshal of our Opening Day Parade, Dave quickly got his umpire attire and worked two games to start the year. He has already umped over a dozen games on the brief season. Please give Dave a big THANK YOU as you see him around the park.

Upcoming Event Highlight
SMHS Rocket Baseball Softball Silent Auction/ Raffle Friday May 16 7 pm Oak Manor.

$15 free Beer and Food.
The Rocket Baseball and Softball teams have been intertwined for years. Many of the high school coaches have coached or even played in SMLL. The softball team, currently ranked 10th in the area, has a roster full of former SMLL players, including some girls from the 2010 state Little League championship team. Many of the parents of current Rocket players were coaches in Little League softball and did a great job of preparing the girls for Coach Hansen and her staff.

Coach Galewski and Coach Weber have been avid supporters of and continue to run clinics for SMLL. Our league would not be were it is today without the help and guidance of Coach Galewski and Coach Weber. The Rocket baseball team continues to tote the success of our program, fielding quality teams year after year.

Please come out and support these programs on Friday Night. I look forward being a part of a large SMLL parent presence.
