With their backs up against the wall facing elimination, the Giants defeated the Brewers 19-16 Monday night. The win forces a rematch between the two teams in the final game of the Schattschneider Tournament Tuesday night.
The Giants got great pitching from Ty Spaltholz who struck out 8 and only walked one in four innings pitched. The Giants brought the bats again and were led offensively by Boston Follis who went 4 for 4 with two singles, a double, and a triple (only a homerun short of hitting for the cycle!) The Giants scored two runs in the first inning when Boston Follis singled and Eli Lindner reached base on a walk. Nate Moen then singled to drive in both runs. The Giants added two more in the third, and put five on the board in the fourth. Ethan Roe led off the fourth with a triple to right field. Jordan Meyer followed with a single, and Thomas Balistrieri earned a walk. All of them scored on Boston’s triple, and then Eli Lindner followed with a triple of his own! Alex Hilbelink then singled to drive in Eli. The Giants added three runs in the fifth inning and six more in the sixth inning. Key hits included a double by Ty Splatholz and a single by Tarek Slusar.
The Giants used four pitchers to close out the game. Eli Lindner, Alex Hilbelink, and Nate Fortier pitched well, and then Boston Follis finallly shut down the Brewer hitters to secure the win! Great game, boys! Good Luck Tuesday in the Championship Game!
